Population 510 Lingle, Wyoming, was named for Hiram Lingle, an early homesteader who was instrumental in the building of the irrigation canal on the north side of the valley. Lingle's swimming pool, city park and horseshoe pits offer recreation and relaxation. Located at the junction of U.S. Highway 85 and 26, Lingle is within two miles of the Grattan Massacre Site (1854). This site marks one of the earliest conflicts between the U.S. Soldiers and Native Americans. Lingle, WY, is also the home of the Western History Center, 2308 U.S. Highway 26. The Center is an educational and research facility with artifacts from prehistoric sites on display through photos, fossils, lithic and faunal materials, exhibits and tours. Town of LingleMayor Russell Walter Lingle's K-12 school is consolidated with Fort Laramie as part of the Goshen County School District.
