LaGrange is one of the oldest towns in Wyoming and boasts one of the first ranches in southeastern Wyoming. In 1867, this early ranch, the LaGrange Ranch, was a designated stop for the stagecoach that ran from Cheyenne to Red Cloud and Spotted Tail Agencies. About 20 years later the Texas longhorns arrived to water at the natural springs 5 miles north of town. The Texas Cattle Trail traversed from Pine Bluffs
to a watering hole along Horse Creek and then to Hawk Springs. (See the historic marker across the street from the community church.)

La Grange celebrates its ranch heritage the third Saturday in June with an annual family fun day called the LaGrange Mini-Fair.

The fun begins at 6:00 AM with a free pancake breakfast in the park followed by a parade, kids activities, a gymkhana and a ranch rodeo.

An evening barbecue precedes the community talent show.
