How would you like to touch a 9-foot tusk of a mammoth that lived over 20,000 years ago? Are you interested in historic and pre-historic displays? Are you a rock and mineral hound? Then you need to visit the Western History Center that is open year-round. Come get your hands dirty or just browse our Center with your eyes! There is something of interest for all ages who delve into the past, especially in the hands-on activity area. Activities at the Western History Center include: Preservation of historic and prehistoric sites, curation and analysis of artifacts, field schools, and ongoing oral history program, and numerous other activities. The center also offers guided tours of various sites in the area that can be tailored to your time and interests. After you have feasted on local history, visit our gift shop which specializes in children's learning activities and bookstore which has a large selection of books on Western History. Admission to the Center is $1.50 and children are admitted free.
